I. Features and teaching results
With fifty years of history, our department has comprehensive programs such as Bachelor Program, Master Program, PhD Program, Extension Education Program and In-Service Master Program.
We focus both on classical and contemporary works, and appreciate both popular and classic literature. To foster international talents, our department has four main courses such as “Chinese Doctrines and Thoughts,” “Chinese Language and Characters,” “Chinese Literature,” and “Chinese Culture and Applications” in the hope to equip our students with the ability to pursue cultural and educational career path. We also teach students Chinese literature, Chinese culture and Chinese traditions in our Master and PhD program. As a result, our students have made great contributions to the society and to the academic field for the past 50 years and have established a good reputation for our department.
II. Future prospects
Students can pursue a career or higher education according to their interests and abilities.
1. Higher Education:
(1) Literary field: Graduate Institute of Chinese Literature, Graduate Institute of Taiwanese Literature, and Graduate Institute of Linguistics and Chinese.
(2) Philosophical field: Graduate Institute of Chinese Philosophy, Graduate Institute of Confucian Classics and Graduate Institute of Religious Studies
(3) Arts and communication fields: Graduate Institute of Arts, Graduate Institute of Arts and Humanities Instructions, Graduate Institute of Theatre Arts, Graduate Institute of Journalism, and Graduate Institute of Communication.
(4) Educational field: Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as Second Language, Graduate Institute of Education.
2. Career options：
(1) Teaching: Students can teach Chinese at elementary and middle schools, or teach foreigners Chinese or teach Chinese at cram schools.
(2) Culture industry: Journalist, editors, copywriter, culture creative organizer, marketing planner, writer, artist, and curator.
(3) Academic field: Researchers, research assistant, administrators, and documentation process clerk.
